Free Real-Time Space Simulation
I have had a review of Celestia on my desk for weeks, if not months, and have yet to make time to download it and try it out. So, I am going to post about it before I test it. A online version of the review is available. If any of my readers want to go ahead and try it out (or have already done so), I would welcome any feedback. And even if no one tries it out, at least my desk is a bit neater...

Yeah, I've got Celestia on my computer. It's cool, from what I've been able to do with it, which is however seriously hampered by the fact that it runs like molasses on my system: PIII, 700 MHz, 384 megs of RAM, Mandrake Linux 9.1.
After trying Celestia, I decided to settle for the next best thing (distant second place), alias Kstars. However for some reason I was unable to get Kstars to compile successfully (usually have no trouble with that). I think you'll enjoy Celestia if your computer is powerful enough to deal with it.
