What happens when you remove “out-dated Judeo-Christian ethics” from a capitalistic society? For one thing, you get a women’s soccer team advertising a whore-house on their chests… Today Berlin, tomorrow the world?
I guess I just learned that links inside of comments are not supported. Or is there a special syntax to mask the HTML-tags?
Re your initial comment. Yes, this stuff has been around for millennia. And it is hardly unique to Germany (or Europe). In the States the only place this is legal is in parts of Nevada (near Vegas), but legal or not, prostitutes can be found by the desperate in almost every city. At some point I'd be glad to debate whether or not legal prostitutes are "much better off" than their alternatives, but that is another post. My main point in the ethical comment is that you will see this type of behavior openly proclaimed in areas that move away from traditional values. While this behavior has occurred for millennia, most people were (and are) ashamed of it because most people believe it to be wrong.
Re posting: This is cut from the Nucleus guide:
Nucleus has some built-in rules concerning comments:
words longer than 90 characters are not allowed (why: layout might get messed up when people do that)
the actual comment should be at least 3 characters long
comments cannot be longer than 5000 characters
guests need to enter a username of at least 2 characters
guests cannot use quotes or newlines in username/email
each sequence of 3 newlines in the body gets replaced by a single newline (why: layout)
HTML tags are replaced by entities
the comment is trimmed (leading and trailing whitespace is left of)
URLs are 'hreffed'. To avoid layout mess-ups, the URLs are shortened.
As for now, all of these rules and parameters are hardwired into the code.
I like the idea. Not that I've been there or plan to go, but judging from their [German only]<a href="http://x-carree.de/Start/st... this establishment looks quite nice. I guess you could find similar ones in Nevada as well.
BTW, I'm not sure if you need to strip yourself from Christian ethics to tolerate this stuff. All you need is to accept the fact, that the oldest trade of the world is here to stay. The women working there are certainly much better off than in other (illegal, desperate) environments.
